SWA Competition Development Pathway

These courses are required for individual progressions towards the certifications we need as a sport organization. The SWA’s objective is to assist coaches in acquiring their Competition Introduction and Competition Development certifications.

SWA Reimbursement Policy

  • The SWA will reimburse only the courses listed. The course must be directly beneficial to one’s upgrading.

  • Reimbursement will not be approved for a course from the Competition Development stream if one is not Competition Introduction certified.

  • If one wishes to take a Competition Development course prior to being Competition Introduction certified, the SWA Board of Directors will consider reimbursement in select circumstances. Prior board approval will be necessary.

Location of the Courses

Several of the courses identified are available online through the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan (CAS). The SWA encourages its coaches to seek out these courses through the CAS website:

Coaches Association of Saskatchewan

These required courses can also be taken through other provincial sport organizations, as CAS’s course schedule does not always work for everyone, and it does not always offer courses as often as an individual may require.

The SWA will reimburse the registration cost for the course. The SWA will not reimburse course significantly more costly than those offered by CAS,

Reimbursement Limits

  • $ 300 per year, per coach

  • Once passed the limit, one can continue to submit completed courses for reimbursement. The SWA will delay reimbursement until the end of the fiscal year. All unused funds will be distributed evenly among those who submitted for reimbursement past the $ 300 limit.

Reimbursement Process

A request for reimbursement must be emailed to the SWA Executive Director, containing:

  • Proof of registration and course completion

  • Receipt must have your name visible

  • Summary of content learned and how it will be applied in your coaching
